Our Philosophy

  • Education – Preparing for life
  • Why do parents send their children to school? The usual answer is to get them educated. But what is education? Learned men and educators define it in many ways. One concept is that education is to make a person fit in the society.
  • Some experts say education means “opening up”. That is, opening the mind to broader visions. We, Myanmars, are used to saying “Pyinnya shwe-oh lu ma khoe” which compares learning to a pot of gold that no one can steal. In this sense, educating a child means making an invaluable investment.
  • We believe that education is a never-ending process, and should be tailored to the needs of each and every student to gain the benefit for a life time. Thus, Lumbini Academy works to promote the students’ abilities bearing in mind the different skills and types of intelligence.
  • We also believe education should consists of improving students’ personal traits such as learning to be compassionate, kind, disciplined, courageous, fair, polite, humble, and patriotic in order to become a person with class.

Seven Kind Of Intelligence

  • It may do parents well to be aware of seven kinds of intelligence which educators have identified.
  • Verbal and linguistic intelligence: the skills of speaking, reading and writing. This skill is seen in writers, poets, orators, Dhamma kathikas (religious teachers), etc. Some examples are Thakin Kodaw Hmaing, Sitagu Sayadaw U Nanissara, Bill Clinton, Tony
  • Logistic intelligence: It refers to the ability of the mind to think systematically, to organize facts, see their relationships, and draw conclusions. This is a kind of intelligence we see in scientists, mathematicians and engineers like Isaac Newton, Bill Gates, etc.
  • Spatial intelligence: people with this ability see objects differently from most people. It makes artists, painters, sculptors, architects and some scientists like Charles Darwin, Watson and Crick, etc.
  • Kinesthetic intelligence: mastery of physical action, mainly related to sports. People with this intelligence are Tiger Woods, David Beckham, etc.
  • Musical intelligence: the ability to appreciate, play, orwrite music. You can name songsters here.
  • Interpersonal intelligence: the ability to understand others, seeing how others feel and think – social cleverness in fact. This is a very important ability seen in great leaders, heads of large organizations, businessmen, etc.
  • Intrapersonal intelligence: the introspective understanding of self, self-control, etc. this is also an important ability of leaders, philosophers, etc.
